Everything you need to integrate Meshr with your WordPress.com site using OAuth authentication
This guide is specifically for WordPress.com sites (hosted at wordpress.com). If you're using a self-hosted WordPress installation (your own domain), check out our WordPress plugin documentation or self-hosted REST API documentation.
WordPress.com uses OAuth 2.0 for secure API access. This allows Meshr to access your WordPress.com site without storing your password.
Meshr automatically detects if your site is hosted on WordPress.com by checking:
.wordpress.comwordpress.comOnce detected, Meshr will automatically use OAuth instead of application passwords for authentication.
Once your WordPress.com account is connected, Meshr will:
Meshr requests the "global" scope, which provides:
These permissions allow Meshr to analyze your content and automatically add internal links to improve your SEO.
Make sure you're using the correct WordPress.com account. If you have multiple accounts, ensure you're logged into the one that owns the site you want to connect.
Only sites where you have owner or admin access will appear. If a site doesn't show up, check your permissions in WordPress.com.
If Meshr is asking for application passwords instead of OAuth, make sure your site URL is correctly identified as a WordPress.com site (should end with .wordpress.com or be recognized as WordPress.com).
If you need to reconnect, go to your Meshr dashboard, disconnect the existing connection, and reconnect using OAuth again. You may need to revoke access in WordPress.com settings first.
